Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, speedster Umran Malik has already hogged the limelight with his blistering pace and accuracy.
In April 2021, Umran was selected as one of three net bowlers for 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL). On 3 October 2021, he made his debut in the IPL, against Kolkata Knight Riders, during the 49th match of 2021 Indian Premier League.
He took the IPL 2022’s best bowling figures with five wickets for 25 runs against the table – topping Gujarat Titans. He set the speed gun on fire, bowling nine fastest deliveries out of top ten deliveries including 156.9 KPH, which is by far the fastest delivery bowled by any Indian bowler.
Umran was also named as the Emerging Player of the tournament in IPL 2022. In a very short span, he has taken the sport of cricket by storm and has become the Fastest Bowler in India and he was picked for Indian Team for India Playing XI v/s IRE recently after his excellent performance in the IPL 2022.
Umran Malik started a new era in IPL when he broke his own record to script magnificent IPL history by hitting a speed of 157 kmph.
Umran, who has played for India in ODIs and T20Is along with the IPL to date, now holds the record for the fastest delivery by an Indian pacer in all these formats. He has registered a speed of 155 kmph in T20Is against Sri Lanka, 156 kmph in ODIs against Sri Lanka, and 157 kmph in the IPL against the Delhi Capitals.
